Replying to Abel's question: "What's the difference between education and indoctrination?"
Education is the cultivation of critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, adaptability, virtues, skills, and knowledge, enabling individuals to develop mentally, emotionally and spiritually, spurring the ability to create and contribute meaningfully to their life and the lives of others, as well as preserve cultural heritage.
Indoctrination, on the other hand, is the suppression of critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, adaptability, virtues, skills and knowledge, in order to control a population and create habitually compliant slaves.
So, how do we transition from a pretend education system to a real education system?
